The surgery is receiving a number of requests for “GP Letters” for the application of new and renewals of firearms licences.
Whilst Gloucestershire Police have the proposed new process, which comprises of a request for an accompanying letter from the person’s GP, on their website the process has not yet been agreed with the Local Medical Committee in Gloucestershire.
GPs at the surgery will therefore be following the existing protocol (of responding to specific enquiries from the Police post application) until the surgery is advised that the proposed new process has been agreed by all parties.
