Surgery Questionnaire
The surgery distributed a questionnaire with the FOSS newsletter in December 2011. Unfortunately the number of replies has been disappointing. Further copies are available at the Reception desk in the surgery if you missed the original and would like to complete one. Your views are important to the surgery and comments / suggestions are welcomed.
Repeat Prescription Orders Via This Website
The surgery has unfortunately been targetted by unwanted emails, generated electronically using the repeat prescription order form on the website. This has resulted in significant numbers of inappropriate emails being received each day. As a result of this the surgery have been forced to add an additional security level to the form to ensure that information is being submitted by a real person and not a computer programme. This will result in patients being asked to enter an automatically generated series of letters and numbers to their repeat prescription order.
Patient Partner - have you tried the automated appointment booking service?
The surgery has a telephone system which enables patients to book, check or cancel routine* doctors appointments 24 hours a day. Patients will automatically be offered this service when they call the surgery.
Please see below for a short guide on using the service:-
Patients will be asked to verify their identity in 2 ways, using their date of birth (which should be entered in the following format dd/mm/yy) and their telephone number. The telephone system will accept any telephone number (mobile / home / work) that the surgery has listed on its database. If patients find that their details are not verified, it may be that the surgery holds an incorrect telephone number. The patient will be diverted to a Receptionist to book their appointment and updated contact details can also then be provided.
If patients choose not to use the automated system they will be transferred to a Receptionist in the normal way.
Patients will also notice that, if calling for something other than an appointment, they can choose to speak to the general enquiries line or the repeat prescriptions line. The general enquiries line should be used for everything except appointment booking and ordering repeat prescriptions.
The surgery hope, that by diverting calls more appropriately that patient's enquiries will be dealt with more quickly and efficiently.
EMIS Access
The surgery is now offering the facility for patients to book and cancel routine doctor's appointments via the internet. If you would like access to the system please ask at Reception.
Warts and Verrucas
Whilst warts and verrucas can be unsightly they are not harmful and the risk of passing them on to others is low. They rarely require treatment but if they are troublesome we ask that patients self treat using Salicylic Acid or the Duct Tape method (see patient information leaflet described below for details) before approaching their GP. A Patient Information Leaflet is available from Reception at the surgery or alternatively you can download one from www.patient.co.uk, click on information leaflets and then "W". Choose the leaflet entitled "Warts and Verrucas".
