HEALTH PROMOTION

All the Doctors, Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Health Visitors in the team are willing to discuss any concerns you may have about your physical and mental health.

Health promotion topics are displayed in the waiting room and are complemented by appropriate information leaflets. Patient information leaflets are available from our GP’s and can be printed out for patients. In addition the particular problems we are concerned about are:

Smoking

The biggest preventable cause of cancer and heart disease. If you want help to give up, please talk to your Doctor, Practice Nurse or Health Visitor.

Blood Pressure

All patients should have this measured every 5 years.

Weight and Diet

A healthy diet is one that maintains a normal weight, is low in animal fats and high in fibre. If you would like more advice, please discuss with us.

Exercise

If you have any doubt that you should be taking more exercise, we will encourage you.

Mental Wellbeing

Having a mental health problem such as anxiety and depression can affect our wellbeing just as much as a physical illness. If you feel you have a mental health problem, please come and discuss it with your doctor.

Fit4Life

The aim of the Fit4Life programme is to provide one-to-one consultations, where participants can receive information and support to help them make healthy lifestyle choices and decisions, which can lead to a healthier and longer life. The programme is run by healthcare professionals with experience in helping people make behaviour changes and is part funded by NHS Gloucestershire.
